چکیده

Tire recycling and reuse in North America worldwide have increased considerably, intending to reduce the harmful effects of scrap tires on environment. Accordingly, use tire derived aggregates (TDA) as backfill material civil engineering applications is rise at an unprecedented rate. However, TDA construction industry, its strength stiffness parameters properties must be evaluated. One key factor that known influence particle size used material. Hence, this paper, a series large-scale triaxial tests five samples with different maximum size, Dmax, 19.05, 25.4, 38.1, 50.8 76.2 mm were conducted investigate effect obtained results. The done under consolidated drained conditions using three confining pressures 50, 100, 200 kPa. results showed shear increase by increasing while cohesion did not show specific trend. Moreover, exhibited secant elastic modulus size.

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Particle Size Effect on Shear Strength of Granular Materials in Direct Shear Test

The effect of particle size on shear strength of granular materials are investigated using direct shear tests. Small direct shear test (60 mm by 60 mm by 24 mm deep) were conducted for particles passing the sieves with opening size of 2.36 mm. Meanwhile, particles passing the standard 20 mm sieves were tested using large direct shear test (300 mm by 300 mm by 200 mm deep). The large direct shea...
